I have decided to quit writing novels, and pursue a career in the arts.
I know it's quite ridiculous to imagine a middle-aged guy who has never drawn anything more than stick figures since 1997 would attempt to enter a field already bursting with amazingly talented artists who have been honing their skills for centuries. But I am.
I have to.
Life is learning. And I feel that if I don't try new things, find new avenues of creative expression, I will grow old all the faster.
So I have decided I want to paint. Using Photoshop. Digital art. I am partial toward the impasto-like styles that I see here on DA, the thick-brush, layered artwork. It's mesmerising. And if I have something to aim for, I have purpose. So that's what I'm going to strive for.
Not perfection, just... purpose.
Let the games commence.
